Dakota Software Attracts the Attention of Environmentally Conscious Students and Job Seekers

Cleveland, OH (February 25, 2013) – At the 2013 Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) ‘Get Experienced Career Fair,’ Cleveland area students had the chance to meet with area employers to discuss summer internships and future career opportunities. Representatives from Dakota Software, a leading provider of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and Sustainability management software, found that their message of environmental responsibility and corporate sustainability resonated with the predominantly youthful crowd.

CWRU student Angela Kaczowka was one of 15 students whose resume earned her early admittance to the event. Ms. Kaczowka, a Biology and Environmental Studies student chose Dakota first over 83 other employers that included Northeast Ohio-based heavyweights such as The Cleveland Clinic, American Greetings, and Lincoln Electric. When asked why she chose Dakota she stated that, beyond aligning with her career interests of environmental research and law, she wanted to learn more about how the company helped their customers reduce their environmental footprint and comply with environmental and safety regulations.

“Many recruiters play the ‘green’ card with students because they know that young people are passionate about environmental issues” said Ms. Kaczowka. “When I researched the participating companies, I found Dakota to be unique because environment and safety are central to what they are doing, not just buzzwords on a recruitment poster.”

Will Lazzaro, Dakota’s Vice President of Software Development, who attended the event has recruited interns for the company in the past and recognizes the surge of environmental awareness in students and recent graduates. “Even when the job market is sluggish, most young job seekers prefer employers that are socially and environmentally responsible” said Mr. Lazzaro. “We’re glad to see that young people are tuned into these issues and are happy to provide opportunities where bright young people can be part of the solution and feel good about what they are doing.”
