Americas Styrenics is the #1 producer of polystyrene and the #2 styrene maker in the Western Hemisphere. They operate eight manufacturing plants throughout the U.S., Brazil,and Colombia. The 50-50 joint venture between Trinseo and Chevron Phillips Chemical is based out of The Woodlands, Texas and has more than 500 employees.
After being spun off from their parent company, Americas Styrenics had legacy tools that were not effective for their needs. They wanted a versatile tool that would provide regulatory information at their fingertips and allow them to analyze data from multiple perspectives.
Americas Styrenics selected Dakota’s ProActivity Suite. They liked that it’s five modules shared data seamlessly and covered their key areas of interest including regulatory applicability, activity management, auditing, incident management and sustainability data management. They valued that the integrated regulatory database would keep them up to date with compliance tasks and audit protocols. They also liked that Dakota’s flexible licensing model accommodated auditing and task management access for all of their users.
Dakota’s Compliance Services team spearheaded the implementation beginning with Dakota Profiler to determine applicability at all of the manufacturing facilities. Dakota’s Support Team conducted training for system administrators and then to help onboard users. Within 3 months, Profiler, Tracer and Auditor were fully implemented across their facilities.
Americas Styrenics was able to consolidate and normalize their compliance-related KPIs and documentation throughout the organization. They estimate that they have improved efficiency by as much as 30% for their EHS-related processes.
