EPA Finalizes Regulation of Perchloroethylene (PCE)

December 19th, 2024 by Ann Rippe

Action Forcing Change
Summary: EPA is finalizing regulation of PCE by prohibiting most industrial and commercial uses, including its manufacture (including importing), processing, and distribution for those uses. The final rule also requires implementing a Workplace Chemical Protection Program for the uses of PCE that are allowed and establishes recordkeeping and notification procedures. Limited exemptions are possible for uses determined to be critical or essential and where no technically or economically feasible alternatives exist.
