EPA Revises Risk Management Program (RMP)

Summary: EPA is finalizing amendments to the Risk Management Program (RMP), including revisions to the accident prevention program requirements and emergency preparedness requirements. The amended regulations include additional requirements for employee participation, monitoring equipment associated with prevention and detection of accidental releases from covered processes, Safer Technology and Alternatives Analysis (STAA), and community notification of RMP accidents. EPA is also finalizing provisions for Program 2 and 3 requirements for compliance with Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP), revisions to the emergency response exercise program, and hot work permit retention requirements.
