Dakota Supports New OSHA Electronic Injury Tracking Reporting Requirements

While OSHA's Electronic Reporting deadline has been delayed many times, the new December 31st deadline appears to be final. With that deadline rapidly approaching, Dakota clients should know that our incident management platform is fully equipped to export the CSV file required by OSHA's online Injury Tracking Application. While general instructions for running reports can be found in the Scout Help menu, there are a few things to know in order to correctly generate this report.

  • Obviously, you must first have captured some or all of your 2016 incidents in Dakota Scout or have imported them. Having this data in Scout not only allows you to track and trend safety data but also sets you up for a one-click OSHA electronic submission file export.
  • In order to accurately report your facilities, you must have each folder that represents a facility designated as a 'Site' in your Organizational Hierarchy. This is accomplished by right-clicking on a folder, selecting the 'Properties...' option in the pop-up menu, checking the 'Site' box, and filling in the Site Properties (Facility Name, Address, City, etc.).
  • To accurately report on man-hours worked and headcount, you must be tracking these statistics in Dakota Metrics using the standard Hours Worked form. Please note that the Metrics form where this information is being tracked must reside in/under the same Site folder as the Scout Incident items.

Once you have implemented these simple steps, you're ready to export the OSHA electronic submission file. If you have any questions or need assistance please reach out to us at support@dakotasoft.com.
