Dakota Software Named A Top 20 Carbon Management Solution Provider

03/24/2010

Dakota Software, a leading provider of sustainability and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) auditing and compliance solutions, is one of 20 firms recently profiled in Groom Energy Solution’s industry report titled Enterprise Carbon Accounting, An Analysis of Corporate-Level Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Reporting and a Review of GHG Software Products. Outside of the Top 20 listing, there are an additional 45 domestic and international vendors identified in the report. The report, released in January, coincides with the mandatory annual GHG reporting requirements for owners and operators of large GHG emission sources and certain fossil fuel and industrial GHG suppliers in the U.S. The EPA’s Final Mandatory Reporting of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) Rule covers approximately 85 percent of the nation’s GHG emissions and applies to approximately 10,000 facilities. Data collection under the new GHG rule for calendar year 2010 began on January 1, 2010, with the first annual GHG report due to the EPA on March 31, 2011. "Dakota Software is pleased to offer a carbon management solution that allows facilities to determine if they exceed any of the applicability thresholds for each of the 30 source categories, pinpoints the applicable calculations and data collection needs, and identifies reporting and recordkeeping procedures, " says Reg Shiverick, President of Dakota Software, "Our product suite consolidates data at the enterprise level and is integrated with EHS compliance activities. Customers can monitor the full spectrum of their sustainability programs using flexible, easy to read dashboards." The report states that current and proposed legislation, and an increased focus on the climate by customers, investors and the public, requires accurate carbon emissions reporting. Dakota Software enhances data integrity by providing "smart forms" for data collection and detailed, verifiable audit trails. "We applaud Groom Energy Solutions for stating the business case for ECA software and identifying 20 key considerations when evaluating carbon management software," says Shiverick, "At Dakota Software, our innovative approach helps our customers improve their sustainability reporting and reduce their carbon emissions."
